Brief Description of My Real Job: Respiratory Case Manager at the Seton Asthma Center in Austin, Texas. In this outpatient education program, patients are case managed after education is provided to assist with obtaining health insurance, prescription medication coverage, and location of a primary care provider; follow up sessions are conducted at periodic intervals. Education is provided during home visits, clinic visits, and group classes. Patient care is coordinated with school nurses and physician offices to ensure continuity of care. I also frequently attend health fairs and school events to promote asthma awareness, and provide the ALA's "Counting on You" program to child care centers in the community.
Other Active Memberships Include: AARC, AANMA, Asthma Coalition of Texas, and Austin Asthma Coalition.
Research and Practice Interests: Community asthma education, environmental control, and disease management outcomes
My AAE Role/Projects: AAE member since 2003; new to the board in 2007
