Brief description of my real job: Employed by John G. Winant Jr., M.D. in the specialty of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. As the nurse in this solo practice, my responsibilities are varied and include patient assessment, education, follow up evaluations and counseling along with all aspects of both medical and practice management.
Practice Interests: This is an Allergy, Asthma and Immunology pediatric and adult practice. Although I enjoy educating patients of all ages, I have a special interest in helping adolescents with self-management of their asthma as well as working with the parents of young asthmatics/wheezers.
Personal: I am a volunteer with the ALA and the New Jersey Pediatric and Adult Coalition (NJPAC). They sponsor and partner with various community asthma education programs, including the Breathe Well, Live Well program, an interactive education program for adults. AAE has helped me grow personally and professionally.
AAE Role: Member since 2003. Elected Board Member 2006. Currently serving on education and nominations committees. Chair of Public Relations and Advocacy Committee 2008. Special project: Li’l Wheezers, an educational manual and survey for parents of “wheezing” children under the age of 5, a product we are looking to market upon its completion.
