Director
Tim Op't Holt, EdD, RRT, AE-C, FAARC
Brief Description of My Real Job: Professor of Cardiorespiratory Care, University of South Alabama, Mobile. Clinical and classroom teaching responsibilities include patient assessment, respiratory care procedures, mechanical ventilation, intensive care, research methodology, and asthma/COPD education.
Research and Practice Interests: Asthma/COPD education, obstructive diseases education and treatment program at the Victory Health Partners clinic, a clinic for the working uninsured, problem-based learning, mechanical ventilation and intensive care.
My AAE Role/Projects: Program planning and assistance with poster presentation.
Personal Comments: Asthma and COPD education have become a focus of my practice. With the changes in healthcare delivery and its expense, one of the main things any healthcare practitioner should strive for is preventive care with the goal of reducing hospitalization and improving quality of life. I believe that organizations such as the AAE are at the forefront of this effort.
