    Hello fellow AAE members,

I'm a member of our hospital's inpatient asthma QI team.  We're focusing on decreasing our inpatient asthma LOS this year.  Our team is interested in knowing if your organization administers continuous albuterol treatments in a regular patient floor/unit or is this reserved for PICU and ED only?  Also, any insight on how your organization handles PICU asthma admissions overall, would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Gloria Ayres, RRT, RCP, AE-C

    Hi, Gloria,

Here at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital we reserve continuous SABA to PICU only. When able to space then may transfer to floor.

We are submitting a journal article soon that shows a statistical improvement in outcomes and decreasing LOS after instituting the use of a clinical pathway for asthma that we developed for use throughout our institution. Do you use one?
