Hi everyone,
I am looking at our process for MDI's for the asthma inpatient population. We have collected data over 4 years and have a significant amount of mdi's that were pulled from the Pyxis twice because they were misplaced. I would like to hear how other places store individual patients' inhalers (such as lock box in room) or otherwise and the process for dispensing at discharge. I am getting the general feedback that common canister is a thing of the past, but curious if anyone is still doing that. On a related note, when you send MDIs home with patients are they relabeled in a way that it is reported to medicaid as a dispensed medication? Any input is helpful. Thanks, Kim
Hi, Kim,
When we discharge a patient, their inhalers are relabeled so as to comply with TN rules. And we don't use common inhalers.
Hope this helps,
